RIVER POINT MAP – SOUTH KAWISHIWI RIVER – BWCA

River Point Outfitting Co.’s private peninsula is bordered on the east and on the west by the South Kawishiwi River, just four paddle miles downstream from entry point (EP#32), on the upper branch of the South Kawishiwi River.

With its highly desirable gentle downstream current, the South Kawishiwi River, is perfect for paddling right back to River Point at the conclusion of your Boundary Waters trip. So many guests enjoy the feeling of great accomplishment when they paddle into the marina, and can say, “we did it!” The south border of River Point is 20 mile-long Birch Lake with 90% of its shoreline being federal, therefore, amazingly undeveloped. A quiet, peacefulness abounds at River Point, ideal for setting the stage for a canoe journey into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. And, River Point provides safe, convenient van transport shuttles to all Ely are entry points, too. Paddle back or drive back…..we’ve got you covered.
Also, illustrated on the River Point map are lodging options of either Villas, Chalets, or Bunkhouses, plus two sand swim beaches, with floating island rafts to enjoy, a hiking trail, and more. Enjoy getting your “wilderness hats” turned on the day prior to the BWCA trip at the facility and be ready for your adventure the next morning.
A SECLUDED SOJURN AT THE LAKE
Just a short 8.5 miles from the quaint town of Ely, Minnesota on scenic highway #1, River Point Outfitting Co., provides a a secluded “sojourn at the lake” prior to, and after, Boundary Waters canoe trips. The private, wooded drive of River Point Road off of state highway #1, brings you to your destination.
River Point Outfitting Co., with its own mile of shoreline on Birch Lake and the South Kawishiwi River, entry point #32, is situated directly adjacent to the famous Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.
