Partial Canoe Trip Outfitting Options

The Partial Outfitting canoe trip option may be right for you if you have most of your own equipment, but you do need canoes and other incidental wilderness equipment for your Boundary Waters canoe trips BWCA originating from Ely, Minnesota.

Rental of a canoe includes:

• Carlisle Straight or bent-shaft paddles

• Padded Portage Yoke

Boundary Waters Canoe Trips

Complete and Partial Canoe Trips

This option is perfect for the group that needs complete outfitting for most people in the party, but a few people need some gear or food. For a minimum equipment/trail food fee of only $50 for each partially outfitted person, let us fill in the holes. All group members enjoy vehicle parking and a wilderness routing & orientation session.

Transport: for groups made up of both Complete and Partial Outfitting, the Entry/Exit Point Transport Rate is based on 1/2 the Partial Outfitting Transport Rate. Gas surcharge applies.

Kevlar Canoe Options

Want to upgrade the Ultralight Complete Outfitting Package from an aluminum canoe to one of the most lightweight canoes on the market? Use this option! Souris River and We-no-nah's Kevlar canoes are constructed from kevlar and are fast, convenient and very light...almost anyone can portage them through the wilderness of the Boundary Waters!

Perfect solution for those who have equipment, but not the canoe, or choose not to bring it. Plus, packing the food for your Boundary Waters canoe trip takes the most time and energy. Let the staff at the premier lake-based facility at River Point Outfitting Co. do it for you!

Package includes:

Lunch and dinner is packed for the first day on the trail for, and breakfast and lunch is packed for the last day for all Boundary Waters canoe trips with the Food & Canoe Pkg. All other days are packed with three meals.

Food Package

Package includes:

Minimum of 2 persons; 3-day trip.  $37/day per person

Bunk, Breakfast & Shower Package

• Private Bunkhouse the evening prior to the trip

Minimum of 4 persons.  $26 per person.
With this package we can also provide for an additional fee, transport to your entry point and parking for your vehicle (see partial outfitting rate sheet).

"Equipment Only" Package With Kevlar Canoe

• Lightweight equipment (tent, sleep bag, therm-a-rest pad, packs, cooking equipment, etc, plus kevlar canoe(s) weighing 42 lbs. Same equipment utilized in the "Comfort Plus" Complete Package is included in this package.

Minimum 3-day trip. $58/day per person based on 2-persons; Solo trip $85/day

"Equipment Only" Package With Aluminum or Royalex Canoe

• Lightweight equipment (tent, sleep bag, therm-a-rest pad, packs, cooking equipment, etc., plus your choice of aluminum canoe or royalex (Old Town Penobscot) canoe(s), weighing 64 lbs. Same equipment utilized in the Ultralight Complete Package is included with this package.

Boundary Waters Canoe Camping & Wilderness Resort Vacation Options

River Point Resort in Ely, Minnesota

The perfect wilderness resort vacation...you may sample the vast Boundary Waters BWCA area by being outfitted for canoe camping for a few days and also enjoy the comfort of a luxury villa complete with private whirlpool for two and fireplace, or one of the brand new chalets with gas fireplace and log furnishings at River Point Resort for a few days. Other wilderness vacation accommodations may also be available.

We suggest a resort vacation for the first part of your trip, followed by the camping portion of your Boundary Waters canoe trip. This allows for time to acclimate you to our great northern Minnesota lakes and to orientate you for your wilderness Boundary Waters canoe trip adventure. However, you may also want to stay a night or two at River Point Resort after the canoe trip, combined with a professional massage in the comfort of your accommodation. Massage is not only very relaxing but also great for those "sore and tired" paddling muscles!

River Point's secluded northern Minnesota resort wilderness setting allows you to become familiar with handling a canoe, including paddling and portaging techniques suggested after viewing our instructional video. Take part in other resort activities, swim at the two beaches, tour Birch Lake by motorboat, combined with some superb fresh-water fishing, and enjoy hiking the on-site "Trail of Reflections." Start or end your canoe trip with a wilderness resort stay at River Point Resort-- the choice is yours.

This option works well for groups with some members wishing to only canoe and camp in the BWCAW or Canada's Quetico and other members wishing to have only a wilderness resort vacation near Ely, Minnesota. Entry/Exit Point Transport

For Boundary Waters Canoe Trips

Rates are per vehicle for transport each way per entry permit.

Special Savings: When the Partial Outfitting costs total a minimum group trip amount of $200, the following transport fees apply. If your group's total rental does not meet the $200 minimum, the partial outfitting transport fees listed are doubled.

Meeting the minimum $200 requirement is easy. For example, renting two aluminum canoes for a 5-day trip meets the minimum.

Towboat Service

Towboat service is water-transportation with a motorized boat for you and your equipment. This service saves you paddling time by allowing your group to move further into the interior of the wilderness on your first travel day from our Ely, Minnesota base. However, it is almost exclusively used with only the Moose Lake entry point for Boundary Waters canoe trips.
