Trace a historical voyageur route with one of our top guides for a relaxing adventure in the

These French/Canadian Voyageurs were a hearty lot and the legends of their travels and exploration are a huge part of the history of the North Country.
We promise you will not work as hard a the Voyageurs did! We will linger during our breaks with plenty of time to discover the beauty of the area and its superb fishing.

Enjoy the world famous International Wolf Center in Ely, Minnesota on the day of your arrival at River Point (Saturday). No trip to the North Country
and the Boundary Waters is complete without a tour of this
important wolf educational center. The center has something
of interest for all ages.
The Wolves & Humans exhibit, along with many other fine displays, illustrates the wolf in an incredible, detailed, accurate, manner. Enjoy viewing the real live wolves that make the center their home.
Guides will teach you more.
Three new pups were introduced into the center's ambassador pack after being acclimated to adult male Arctic gray wolves Shadow and Malik. The trio was brought in to make the pack more closely resemble the structure of a wild pack. Grizzer was the male pup introduced and Maya and Nyssa the females. They are all delightful to watch as they all mingle together at the center in surroundings that duplicate their natural environment.
"Though now adult in size, the nearly three-year-old wolves still show their youthful nature---playing with each other, stalking ravens, wrestling trees, and always, always learning" says
the director of the Ely, Minnesota facility. Depending upon the level of interest of the group, wolf howling is also an option for the evening's entertainment!
The guided Boundary Waters canoe trip will continue the adventure on Sunday, learning more about the great outdoor wilderness habitat of the wolf. Your guide will attempt to navigate the group into areas of greatest opportunity to hear wolves. It is an awesome experience! Time will also be available for swimming, hiking, fishing, sightseeing, photography, and just plain enjoying the relaxing and beautiful world around you.
". . . You have a great crew [at River Point]. But, Chris [Wolf Howling Guide] is a gem! He led 6 greenhorns into the wilderness and provided outstanding guidance and leadership. His maturity and capability in providing everything everyone needed was quite obvious. He is wise beyond his years. The trip was awesome!"
-Cathy B., Cuyahoga Falls, OH
Know that while wolves in the wild are abundant, there is never a guarantee that they will "perform" their vocal melodies for your group. There will also be opportunities to view deer, moose, loons, beaver, otter, bald eagles, and a multitude of other birds - so bring your camera!
